Mako Shark Fever Tournament Report

Another good weekend of sharkin!

Friday had the Fish Head out for Mako Fever. Beat off blue sharks all day long until the 2 o clock bite came which was the right kind. good fight with a nice jump. Made it on the scales for Mako Fever after day one with third place. 185lbs. Unfortunately it didn't last as there were many 200lb class fish brought in. Regardless we had a blast and it's always nice to weigh one in.

Saturday fished the Lowrider. Fishy conditions, again beat off the blue sharks all day long. Caught and released quite a few. Highlight was a 300lb Great white that did a drive by and circled the boat. What a sight! We never got the right one to bite that day. But again... had a blast!!! Congrats to Big Kid on the winning fish (I think) and XTC for hangin a good one in Mako Fever

FISH HEAD - Weekend Recap

Saturday - Had John Tom and Ed for a full day striper trip. We opted to fish the afternoon into evening and rolled the dice and went south. All fired up for a bite with about 100 bunkers in the well.........and no one home. We worked it all day trying many areas off Seaside, Bay Head, IBSP Lavalette and eventually running back towards home to catch only one stray bass (Released). Only a couple other run offs. Tough day but we all tried hard and as always, a great day on the water.

Sunday - funday - Me and GF,some buddies and DP-Jr. Went sea bassing. Left early to beat the blow (and it blew up good) It was drop and reel with many double headers. 66 keepers in 2 hours fishing. Many smaller releases. Fish tacos tonight for DP Jr's B-day!! YUM

FISH HEAD - Afternoon Stripers and Sea Bass

Had John and Tom out for their second trip this season. Started snagging/netting bait early and filled the well. First stop was over some hard bottom looking for bass before the evening bite began. Dropped down some jigs and boated 4 nice sea bass for dinner. Wish I had pcks they were all 4lb hump heads. Headed to the striper grounds where we were greeted with a slow but steady pick. Finished the night with 10 fish and a few more lost at boatside. All stripers were released to fight again. A nasty fog bank rolled in around 7pm so we fished a little longer and headed for the barn. Another great day on the water!!!

FISH HEAD - Stephan Howarth Charter

On Sunday SIC (Shark Inlet Charters) had both boats Lowrider and Fish Head out for an afternoon bass trip with the Steve Howarth group. We had a slow bite going with only 4 fish in the box by 6pm. Fish were there just not chewing. As soon as the sun set....all hell broke loose!!! The crew all had time to practice and fine tune thier livelining skills and were ready to battle when the bite turned on. We finished the day bringing home 14 fish for the group of 10 and released 4 more to fight again. Another great day on the water!!!
